Stat Limits

Guidelines on Stat Limits per Age Range

LAmush has no level-based system. We aim to build stories for a wide range of very diverse individual characters, each with its own interests and specializations. In this it is nigh impossible to determine hard limits for character-growth. Approving high stats is a balancing act between preserving realism, theme, powerbalance and the need for all characters to have a niche and be special, and the wish to see a character grow.

The table below offers players guidelines on what stat-level would be common, uncommon, rare, exceptionally rare or even impossible for a certain age-class.

  • Uncommon levels require a good justification, such as a journal entry, and some roleplay.
  • Rare levels require significant effort; where roleplay is centered around a particular stat for an extended amount of time. A character is unlikely to have more than 1 stat on this level, or 2 at the very maximum. In this 'flavor'-stats are more likely to be granted than 'power-stats' such as combat-abilities or abilities fueling your discipline-contest.
  • Extremely rare levels are likely to be denied, except for (often Dinosaur-)character's with a VERY good justification, who's concept and story resolves around the particular stat.

Please try not to push 'rare' or 'extremely rare' limits on all levels, but specialize. One character cannot be good at everything, and every character needs a niche.

Combat Stat Limits

In addition to general directions, Architects employ the following guidelines in limiting characters combat capabilities. These limitations represent what the maximum achievable overall combat capability would be in the active time of the character.

Classification Max Dots Other Notes/Examples
Mortals & Neonates 9 One (1) 4 possible, but all others 2 max. (This would mean: 4 +2 +2 +1 = 9 total)
Ancilla 11 One (1) 4 possible with a single 3, rest max 2. (This would mean: 4 +3 +2 +2 = 11 total)
Elders 11 Option-1: 4 +3 +3 +1 =11
Option-2: 4 +4 +1 +1 +1 = 11
Option-3: 5 +3 +1 +1 +1 = 11
Option-4: 3 +3 +3 +2 = 11

Notes

  1. For the Max Dots, by 'combat scores' in this instance we specifically (and exclusively) mean: Archery, Brawl, Dodge, Firearms, and Melee.
  2. If a character has no 4+ scores, they can have any number of 3's so long as they do not exceed the limit of 9 (Neonates/Mortals) or 11 (Ancilla and Elders).
  3. The age classification refers to elapsed focused training in the skill. Therefore other factors (E.g., being a ghoul for a long time / prior to embrace, being a diablerist, et cetera.) may be considered.
